Aïda Touré Built Texture to Redefine Body Skin Care

January 12, 2026

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

I’m Aïda Touré, the founder of Texture, an elevated body-care brand created for the skin people often hide. Texture focuses on overlooked areas like underarms, inner thighs, and beyond; where irritation, discoloration, and texture are common but rarely talked about. Our mission is to turn quiet skin insecurities into intentional care, blending effective formulations with storytelling, education, and community.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Not always, but I’ve always known I wanted to build something meaningful. Entrepreneurship became the natural path once I realized I wanted to create impact on my own terms combining creativity, problem-solving, and purpose.

Do you have a co-founder?

I don't have on yet but I believe alignment in values, vision and communication is key and matters more than complementary skills. It's like marrying someone :)

Are you a mamaprenista?

I'm not a mum yet :) but I deeply admire women who are. Drom what I've learned, systems, boundaries and self compassion are essentials!

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

At launch, my strategy was community-first. I focused on organic storytelling, education, and relationship-building through social media, conversations, and local connections rather than paid ads. While it didn’t go exactly as planned, it validated something important: people were hungry for this conversation. Engagement, feedback, and early interest confirmed I was solving a real problem.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

I’m most proud of building Texture from scratch. From developing the concept, formulating my first product, creating samples, attending pop up events and partnering with local brands, growing an engaged community before mass production. Seeing people resonate with the mission before the product is even widely available has been incredibly validating.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

That i'm not alone and stuck and that many other people are going through the same headaches and challenges and that help is closer to me than i think.. I just have to communicate what challenges i'm having and what i would need to move forward and many people are actually willing to help and have the solution for you.

When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?

I do not have an employee yet but I would ask something to know about their curiosity level or if they have the right mentality to know that whatever happens, they can figure things out. for example, "how do you approach learning something you don't know yet?"

What did you go before starting your own business?

I still have a 9-5 in the tech industry as a Senior Instructor and Curriculum Developer, building education programs and translating complex concepts into clear, engaging experiences. That background shapes how I think about brand building, education, clarity, and trust at the core of everything I create.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

Texture was born from my own experience. I struggled with skin issues I felt embarrassed to talk about and couldn’t find products that truly addressed them. At some point, I realized the problem wasn’t just the products, it was the silence around these concerns. I took the leap because I wanted to build the brand I wish existed when I was searching for answers.

Do you have any recent wins?

I started 7 months ago and over the past months, I’ve created and tested my first product, grown an organic audience, secured meaningful conversations with boutiques, estheticians, and beauty founders, and refined Texture’s positioning and brand story. Each step has brought more clarity and confidence.

What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?

My Notes app! I capture ideas constantly, product thoughts, brand language, vision for the next 2-5-10 years, words that inspire me and more. This is how Texture started actually. From my notes app.

Who are your customers?

Texture is for women who are thoughtful about what they put on their bodies and crave solutions that actually work. They’re beauty-savvy, values-driven, and often dealing with issues like dark spots, bumps, ingrowns, or irritation in areas traditional skincare ignores. Our customers care about results, clean ingredients, and brands that feel honest, inclusive, and human.

What's your top productivity tip?

I have one non-negotiable priority everyday. I block it on my calendar because i believe that what is scheduled gets done. And if that one thing moves the business forward, the day is a win.

What's your favorite business tool?

Canva. I absolutely love how it helps me move quickly, test ideas and bring vision to life. It's been really key to building Texture and communicate my story in aesthetically pleasing templates that i can use on my social media.

What's your approach to work-life balance?

I see work-life balance as seasons. I think some weeks require more focus and others more rest. I just have to learn to give myself permission to rest without guilt.

How do you avoid burn-out?

I avoid burnout by scheduling time on my calendar to take naps, (a 20 mn power nap) or by just cutting the noise for a whole day by not having my phone, not checking social media etc. I scheduled everything in advance so i don't have to worry about my social media posts, emails or Tiktok.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

Start before you feel ready and don't wait for permission or validation from people that don't have the vision. Build in public, talk about your ideas (passion is contagious), stay curious and remember that consistency is key and builds confidence too.
