Ashley Kalloo Turned a College Dream Into Wishbone Design Studio
The Charleston designer spent 14 years working toward the branding and website studio she named before graduation, and she opened it in 2026.

Ashley Kalloo’s new studio is also her oldest idea. She dreamed up Wishbone Design Studio in college and spent the next 14 years working toward it. In 2026, she finally opened.
Ashley Kalloo is the owner and principal designer of Wishbone Design Studio, a branding and website design studio based in Charleston, South Carolina, that works with women-led businesses across the U.S. Ashley is a member of The Entreprenista League, and she is now booking discovery calls with the founders she hopes to work with next.
“I finally launched, and it has been the best wish I ever made,” Ashley says.
A brand that feels like you
Ashley wants every brand and website she builds to feel “so authentically them that showing up every day becomes the easiest part of running their business.” She designs for women-led service businesses, including photographers, interior designers, wellness coaches, wedding professionals, virtual assistants, realtors, boutique owners, and moms building a business on the side.
Her Brand Glow Up package builds a custom identity around a client’s story and personality in about 8 working days. Wish Upon a Site turns one of her Showit templates into a custom website in 5 days, and the Total Dream Package covers both in a 3-week process from kickoff to launch.
A domain bought before graduation
Her love of design took hold in a senior-year journalism class, where she saw that great design could tell a story, set a mood, and make people feel something.
The studio’s name came up shortly before graduation, while she was sitting with one of her favorite design friends. Ashley bought the domain that same day. Her friend gave her a bracelet with a wishbone charm, which Ashley calls “a little reminder that some wishes are worth holding onto.”
From magazines to store signage
Ashley spent the years after college in design roles across magazines, ad agencies, home retail, corporate marketing for direct sales, and women’s fashion. She has done every side of graphic design in corporate and agency settings, from email, websites, ads, and social to print, store signage, and a little magazine editorial.
She also has plenty of art direction experience on campaigns and photoshoots. So far, she is proudest of building out her own brand and launching the studio’s website.
Making her own hours
“I’ve always wanted to work for myself, make my own hours, and be flexible for my daughter’s school schedule as she gets older,” Ashley says.
The job market pushed her too. Remote freelance work had grown harder to land, since companies she had worked with wanted people back in the office and she had moved away from those areas.
Wishbone Weddings comes next
Ashley’s goal is to be booked 3 to 4 months out, with 1 or 2 retainer clients she feels connected to. For now, she wants to focus on branding and launching businesses.
In a few months, she plans to launch the second part of the studio, Wishbone Weddings, with template and custom wedding websites for couples. “Charleston has a lucrative destination wedding market, and with a contact in the market, I’d like to tap into that,” she says.

Ashley is building Wishbone Design Studio alongside a community of women founders doing the same. No one should ever have to build a business alone. Consider this your official invitation to join us.
