August 21, 2025
Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business
Hello, I'm Darcy Bennet, the Founder of DB Executive Services and a speaker specializing in operational efficiency and event planning. I'm a strategic business partner providing operational and project management support to executives and businesses. My expertise lies in streamlining operations, driving efficiency, and delivering successful project outcomes across diverse industries.
Who are your customers?
My clients include business owners, entrepreneurs, startups, small to medium-sized businesses, busy executives, high-net-worth individuals, and professionals in demanding fields across diverse industries.
What was your background prior to starting your own business?
For 11+ years, I have been an executive and personal assistant across diverse industries, supporting senior leaders and C-suite professionals at startups and Fortune 500 companies.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I've always had a strong desire to build something of my own, and this year, the timing felt right to finally take the leap and launch DB Executive Services. Ultimately, what drove my decision was the desire to have a greater impact. I wanted to be able to support a wider range of clients and make a more meaningful difference in their lives and businesses. I'm passionate about helping others achieve their goals, and I believe that by providing strategic operational support, I can empower them to focus on their core purpose and create positive change. Of course, I also wanted the freedom to pursue the work I'm most passionate about, without the limitations of a traditional corporate structure.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
For a long time, my entrepreneurial drive was overshadowed by the belief that a traditional corporate career was the only viable path. However, towards the end of last year, I experienced a significant shift in perspective, realizing that entrepreneurship was a real option.
Take us back to when you first launched your business; what was your marketing strategy to get the word out and did it go as planned?
When I launched DB Executive Services, my initial marketing strategy focused on leveraging my existing network and building a strong online presence to establish credibility and attract clients. It didn't go exactly as planned, but I have learned a lot from the process.
What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far and what have you learned from it?
Building a client base from the ground up has been the biggest hurdle in growing DB Executive Services, requiring significant effort and persistence, and teaching me that success in this area comes from consistent outreach, building genuine relationships, and maintaining resilience in the face of setbacks, all of which I'm dedicated to achieving long-term.
What accomplishment are the most proud of to date in your business?
I'm most proud of the growth I've experienced as a speaker. Having the platform to share my knowledge and empower audiences at conferences and events has been incredibly fulfilling. It's a privilege to connect with professionals and provide them with actionable strategies that can make a real difference in their careers and businesses.
What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?
Expect to see significant growth from DB Executive Services over the next few years. My priorities include building a strong team to expand our capacity, and increasing my speaking engagements to share my expertise and connect with a broader audience. Ultimately, I'm focused on scaling the business and becoming a recognized leader in the industry.
What is your top productivity tip?
My top productivity tip is to maximize focus and efficiency by combining task grouping with the Eisenhower Matrix, batching similar tasks into dedicated work blocks to minimize context switching while simultaneously prioritizing those tasks using the Urgent/Important framework to ensure energy is directed towards activities that drive the most significant results.
On the flip side, how do you avoid burnout?
To avoid burnout, I prioritize scheduling my day in 30-minute increments with built-in breaks, and I dedicate significant time to family and friends, because holding onto those relationships is a top priority.
What is your approach to work-life balance / integration?
I embrace a flexible approach to work-life integration, but I maintain control by establishing clear boundaries to protect my time for breaks and personal life.
What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?
If I could go back, I would tell myself to seek out resources and mentorship more proactively. I spent a lot of time trying to figure things out on my own, which prolonged the process and led to unnecessary setbacks. Knowing that there are organizations and communities dedicated to supporting women entrepreneurs would have been a game-changer in those early stages.
What's the one app on your phone you absolutely cannot live without and why?
I'd have to say LinkedIn is the app I rely on most. Beyond its professional utility, I've genuinely enjoyed connecting with and learning from so many inspiring individuals on the platform. It's become an indispensable tool for both business and community building.
What is your favorite business tool or solution and why?
Google Workspace is my favorite business tool. I'm very comfortable with the platform, and I greatly value its collaborative features and accessibility, which have been crucial for my efficiency and productivity.
What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?
My top advice for aspiring Entreprenistas is to strategically tap into your network and build meaningful relationships. Don't just collect contacts; cultivate connections with mentors, peers, and potential collaborators who can offer guidance, support, and opportunities. Focus on building genuine relationships based on mutual respect and shared goals, and remember that networking is a two-way street – be ready to give as much as you receive.
