Eory Madera of Truffle Temptations on Building a Luxury Food Brand Through Community and Authenticity
Eory Madera, founder of Truffle Temptations, has built a luxury food brand rooted in culture, quality, and connection. Inspired by her time in Italy and backed by a strong foundation in pharmaceutical science and business, she transformed a simple idea into a growing brand known for premium truffle products and curated culinary experiences. Starting at local farmers markets in Miami, Eory focused on storytelling, product education, and community engagement to build a loyal customer base from the ground up.
Please share a brief introduction and your business:
I am the founder of Truffle Temptations, a Miami-based luxury truffle brand sourcing premium products directly from Italy. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, with a background in pharmaceutical science and over 15 years in biotech and medical affairs, I combine science, wellness, and entrepreneurship to create elevated culinary experiences. Truffle Temptations was inspired by my time in Italy and built with a mission to bring authentic, high-quality truffle products to the U.S. through retail, farmers markets, and curated experiences.
Do you have a co-founder?
While I am the founder, my husband has been a key partner in growing our real estate portfolio and supporting the business journey. My biggest advice is alignment—values, vision, and work ethic must match. Clear communication and defined roles are essential.
Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?
We started at local farmers markets in Miami, focusing on product tastings, storytelling, and education. Social media played a key role, along with word-of-mouth and community engagement. While not everything went exactly as planned, those early experiences helped us refine our message and build a loyal customer base organically.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Not always—but I always knew I wanted to create something of my own. Entrepreneurship became a natural path as I combined my passion for innovation, my business mindset, and my desire for freedom and impact.
What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?
Opening our retail store in Coral Gables and seeing the community show up to support us has been incredibly meaningful. It was a full-circle moment that validated the vision and all the work behind it.
What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?
You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. Action creates clarity. I wish I had trusted the process more and not overthought every decision in the beginning.
When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?
“Tell me about a time you solved a problem without being told what to do.”
I look for initiative, ownership, and attitude over just experience. Skills can be taught, but mindset is everything.
What did you do before starting your own business?
Before launching Truffle Temptations, I spent over 15 years in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, working in medical affairs, sales, and strategy. My expertise is in oncology, immunology, and biosimilars, where I led product launches, trained teams, and collaborated closely with healthcare stakeholders across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
In parallel, I began building my entrepreneurial path in real estate. In 2019, I founded E3M Properties, starting with six units. After meeting my husband, we significantly expanded our portfolio, and today we manage over 20 units in Puerto Rico. This experience strengthened my business acumen and laid the foundation for scaling Truffle Temptations.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
The idea was born during a trip to Italy, where I experienced truffles in their most authentic form. I realized there was a gap in the U.S. market—not just in access to high-quality truffles, but in education around how to use them. That moment sparked a vision, and I decided to take the leap to build something meaningful that blends luxury, culture, and wellness.
Do you have any recent wins?
Yes! We successfully launched our flagship store, expanded into new markets and partnerships, and strengthened our relationship with our Italian suppliers. We’ve also grown our presence at major events and farmers markets, continuing to build brand awareness across Miami.
What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?
Instagram. It’s one of our main platforms for brand awareness, storytelling, and direct connection with our customers. It has been key in growing Truffle Temptations organically.
Who are your customers?
Our customers are food lovers, wellness-conscious individuals, chefs, and corporate clients who appreciate quality, authenticity, and unique culinary experiences. We serve both everyday consumers who want to elevate their meals and luxury clients looking for premium gifts or exclusive gourmet products.
What's your top productivity tip?
Clarity over everything. I start each week by identifying my top 3 priorities that will actually move the business forward—revenue, visibility, or growth. I also time-block my schedule and focus on high-impact tasks first.
What's your favorite business tool?
Square. It allows us to seamlessly manage sales, inventory, and customer data across retail, markets, and online. It’s been essential for scaling efficiently.
What's your approach to work-life balance?
I believe more in work-life integration than balance. There are seasons where business requires more, and others where personal life takes priority. I focus on being fully present in whatever I’m doing—whether that’s running my business or spending time with family.
How do you avoid burn-out?
I’ve learned to listen to my body and create space to reset. Whether it’s a walk, travel, or simply unplugging for a few hours, stepping away actually makes me more effective. I also remind myself that rest is part of the strategy—not a reward.
What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?
Start before you feel ready. Be consistent, stay close to your customers, and protect your vision. Entrepreneurship is not easy, but if you stay committed, adaptable, and focused, it’s one of the most rewarding journeys you can take.
Eory’s journey is a powerful reminder that building a successful brand starts with connection, clarity, and consistency. From grassroots beginnings to opening a retail store, she has stayed focused on her vision while allowing each step to refine her path. Her story shows that you don’t need everything figured out to begin, you just need to start and stay committed.
