From Stay-at-Home Mom to Travel Expert: Megan Lanford of Points Too Paradise

December 30, 2025

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

I’m Megan Lanford the founder of Points Too Paradise, where I teach women and entrepreneurs how to travel for almost free using credit card points and their everyday expenses.

A few years ago, I was barely able to take one vacation a year. After learning how to strategically use points, I now take 6+ trips annually and save over $30,000 on travel each year — and I help my clients do the same. I coach families and business owners on how to book first-class flights, luxury hotels, and dream vacations without breaking the bank.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Not until my late 20's did I realize the power of being in control of your own finances and life. I joined network marketing and got my first taste of what doing something on my own could do forme and my family.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

When I first launched my business, my marketing strategy was simple: show up, share my story, and teach what I knew. I didn’t have a big budget or a complicated plan — I just knew that other women and moms needed to hear that traveling for free was actually possible. So I started creating content on Instagram, talking about how we were taking multiple trips a year on points, and sharing behind-the-scenes of planning our own family vacations.

My initial strategy was just posting daily, but I quickly realized I needed something more to increase visibility. I then started my own podcast and guested on others podcast and the more I shared my story, the more people connected with it. Podcast guesting became one of my biggest converters.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

One of my biggest highlights was being invited by Marriott Bonvoy to present to their employees on how to maximize points — truly a full-circle moment in my business.

But what means the most to me is the impact: helping women save thousands of dollars each year, book their bucket-list trips, and create memories with their families they never thought they could afford. Those wins — the messages, the screenshots, the “I just booked this for $11.20!” moments — are what remind me why I started and why I keep going.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I had known that slow growth doesn’t mean failure — it means foundation. In the beginning, I thought success would come quickly if I just worked hard enough. But what I’ve learned is that building a business, a brand, and a reputation takes time, trust, and consistency.

What did you go before starting your own business?

Previously I was a wildlife biologist before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

I started my business because becoming a mom changed everything for me. After my daughter was born, I knew I wanted to be home with her — at the same time, I had discovered the power of travel points and how they could completely transform our ability to take the kinds of trips I used to only dream about.

I realized quickly that most women had no idea this was even possible — and I felt called to change that.

Do you have any recent wins?

This last year I was asked to speak at the Pinners conference and was able to share with the audience on how to get started traveling for free. But again in really comes back to my clients wins and seeing them travel for almost free. A few of theirr stories this year were... traveling to Hawaii and saving $5,000, one client was able to take a trip every month of 2025, another took an anniversary trip with her husband for the first time in 22 years and stayed at a luxury resort for $0. These wins are the best for me to see my clients winning.

Who are your customers?

Woman, moms, small business owners and anyone wanting to travel more

What's your top productivity tip?

For me with a little one at home I try and schedule all my calls on one day and get help that day to knock it all out at once.

What's your favorite business tool?

My favorite business tool is Voxer. It’s the backbone of how I support clients in real time through my VIP coaching offers. I love it because it allows me to help busy moms and entrepreneurs on-the-go — they can send me voice messages while juggling kids, errands, or work, and I can respond with personalized travel strategies, card recommendations, or booking help without needing a Zoom call.

What's your approach to work-life balance?

When you love what you do then it all goes together.

How do you avoid burn-out?

Lots of family quality time and good funnels running in the background.
