Please share a brief introduction and your business

I'm a first-generation American and former litigator-turned-business and employment lawyer for solos and small business owners! I know firsthand that the journey to entrepreneurship includes difficult decisions, many of which have legal ramifications. With Helen Mileto Law, I provide my clients with clear strategic legal advice so that they can make informed decisions about their business and avoid costly litigation in the long-run.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes, but I didn't know if I ever had the guts to do it. I'm excited I finally bet on myself!

Are you a mamaprenista?

I am a proud mama to two incredible children. I am modeling being a business owner, a professional, a mom, wife and daughter -- showing family of all generations that all of these roles are important and setting clear boundaries when I'm in one role vs. the other. I am also very good at compartmentalizing my roles so when I'm in each one, I give it my full attention.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

My first strategy was word of mouth, but that only takes you so far...which is where social media comes in. 

‍What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

Helping a professional navigate the bounds of NY employment law with respect to non-solicitation of former patients when leaving to establish a new practice.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

Collaboration is key!

What did you go before starting your own business?

I spent nearly a decade practicing litigation in NY and NJ in all areas of employment law.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

I love helping people and I love practicing law outside of the courtroom. Helen Mileto Law blends the two beautifully.

What's your approach to work-life balance?

I'm able to compartmentalize well. Regardless of the mode I'm in, I'm ALL in! This maximizes my ability to balance work with my personal life.

How do you avoid burn-out?

pilates classes - I can't be working or I'll fall off of my reformer!
