How Angela Tait Built a Six-Figure Consulting Firm

January 6, 2026

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

I’m Angela Tait — Founder, headhunter, investor, podcast host, bestselling author, and HR consultant. I lead Tait Consulting, where our mission is to create win-win situations that empower leaders to thrive in their zone of genius. We help organizations build strong teams through recruiting, leadership training, and executive coaching, so leaders can confidently delegate and scale with purpose.

Are you a mamaprenista?

Yes, which is another reason I started my Mom-Me podcast to learn from others on resources, tools and tips. What I've learned is to let go of the pressure to do everything perfectly at once. Build systems that support you, ask for help sooner than you think you need to, and design your business around your life, not the other way around. Your kids don’t need constant presence; they need intentional presence. And your company doesn’t need burnout to grow, it needs clarity, support, and boundaries.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

No... I planned to get the word out by writing a book to build credibility, but it took 3 years. However, through social media efforts, I landed multiple clients through referrals and even a 6-figure client on LinkedIn with a great one-liner.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

Scaling my business to over six figures in my first year and, more importantly, the impact that growth created. I’m proud of the number of people I’ve helped secure meaningful employment and financial stability, and the leaders I’ve supported in building stronger teams so they can lead with less stress and more clarity.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I just started and I'm sure there is a lot to uncover still..

When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?

Why are you leaving your current position? I ask this because the answer reveals far more than just timing. It helps me understand motivation, self-awareness, values, and whether someone is running from a situation or moving toward growth intentionally. I listen closely for accountability, clarity, and alignment, not blame. How someone speaks about their past often tells me how they’ll show up in their next role.

What did you go before starting your own business?

Recruiter, HRBP, Head of HR, OD consultant, and business development

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

It was time and I was ready to create more impact in the world

Do you have any recent wins?

This past year marked several meaningful milestones. I released my own book, The Human Capital Playbook, after releasing a collaborative book the year before, and deepening my thought leadership in people strategy. I also celebrated one year and 55 episodes of the Mom-Me Podcast, supporting ambitious moms navigating leadership at work and at home. In addition, I had the opportunity to speak with SHRM (Society of HR Management) professionals and ASU (Arizona State University) students, sharing practical insights on leadership, hiring, and personal branding, something I’m incredibly proud of as it allows me to impact both today’s leaders and the next generation.

What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?

LinkedIn- I can work from anywhere

Who are your customers?

Business owners, leaders, HR

What's your top productivity tip?

Time blocking

What's your favorite business tool?

Fathom (AI notetakers)- they capture all the meeting notes, so I can be present in conversations and know how to follow up

What's your approach to work-life balance?

I don’t follow a traditional 8–5. I design my work around my life, picking up my kids at 3pm, working in focused blocks throughout the day, and logging back in when needed. It’s not about working nonstop; it’s about flexibility, intention, and being present where it matters most.

How do you avoid burn-out?

Take breaks, go on vacation/travel, hang out with friends and family, work out and not work much on the weekend.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

Just start. It doesn’t need to be fully thought out, perfectly branded, or mapped five years ahead. Clarity comes from action. You can refine, pivot, and evolve, but you can’t grow what you never begin.
