How Jeannie Guzman Helps Women Entrepreneurs Build Financial Confidence Through Clarity and Community

November 24, 2025

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

I believe that financial clarity is a cornerstone of growth. That's why I offer not only bookkeeping services, but also education and a community where entrepreneurs can learn, ask questions, and support one another. I'love to help businesses make informed financial decisions with confidence and clarity.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

No! I originally wanted to be a music teacher. It was hard to get a position, and I worked part time in a bank and I was good with numbers. So I decided to get my Masters in Accounting.

Are you a mamaprenista?

I am a mom, however my daughter is already 22! Managing a business and a family can be tough, but my advice is to make sure the family knows that the business is important to you, and a lot of times you will either be out, or need quiet time.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

I think I relied on referrals at first which was great, but I realized to reach a larger audience, social media was really important.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

Definitely it would be how much my clients trust me and refer me to other businesses. It means so much to gain trust and know I am helping them make the best decisions for their businesses based on the information I can provide.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

That you don't have to do everything all at once. Slow down, make lists of the priorities.

When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?

If a client wants to code something to an expense that you know is incorrect, how would you tell them? Would you just do it, or make them aware?

What did you go before starting your own business?

I have been and Accountant and Controller for 20+ years.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

I founded Empowered Financial Consulting with one mission: to help entrepreneurs and non profits feel confident and in control of their finances. With a background in accounting and years of experience helping small business owners, I saw a need not just for numbers support — but for knowledge, connection, and empowerment.

Do you have any recent wins?

A big win for me was re-branding from an old name that didn't quite fit my business anymore to a new name that means a lot to me. Empowering women by knowing their numbers means so much to me and I love my new name!

What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?

Amazon! So easy to grab something I need and get it the next day!

Who are your customers?

Women freelancers, coaches and creatives - solopreneurs to small businesses and non profits.

What's your top productivity tip?

My top tip is to keep track of your numbers all year long - not just at tax prep time. This was you make the best decisions based on the up to date informtation.

What's your favorite business tool?

Of course, I love QuickBooks. It is easy for a business owner to understand. Although, I do recommend a professional, especially for set up or clean up!

How do you avoid burn-out?

Spending time with my family. My husband and I love comedy shows and music. Also, I love playing with my little dog, Peanut.

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

Love what you do and your business will never seem like work!
