Kathleen Korpela Built Living Goldenwell for Women Navigating Eldercare

“I felt alone when making life-altering decisions about someone I loved deeply,” Kathleen Korpela says. She was 36 when her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia. She was also raising an infant and a toddler while holding down a full-time corporate career. The support she needed didn't exist, so she built it.

Kathleen Korpela is the founder of Living Goldenwell and the creator of Caregiving From The Middle, a learning program and network for women supporting aging parents. Before this, she spent 20 years in a corporate career across business, finance, and technology. A member of the Entreprenista League, she now spends her days providing the eldercare guidance she once went without.

“What if other women didn’t have to struggle through this alone? What if there was a way to transform the challenging experience of supporting and caring for an aging parent into confidence, know-how, and purpose?”

The diagnosis that changed the next 8 years

Her father’s diagnosis moved her into a role she hadn't applied for and couldn't outsource. “I was unexpectedly thrusted into a new phase of life,” she says.

The struggle ran psychological, emotional, and practical all at once. “It involved grappling with an identity role reversal I never saw coming and a never-ending list of questions and to-dos in navigating the complex world of eldercare,” she says. Anxiety and overwhelm sat on top of that list.

The answers she needed were scattered across the internet, and they rarely agreed with each other.

The clarity that came after

Her father passed away, and Kathleen sat with grief. “Despite all my efforts, I realized how unprepared and unsupported I’d been throughout the process,” she says. She had made life-altering decisions about someone she loved with no formal education, no resources, and no one to call.

Then the question turned outward. She could keep climbing the corporate ladder that had stopped satisfying her, or she could build the blueprint and support system she had needed herself. “That was my moment of awakening,” she says.

Entrepreneurship had always appealed to her. “I’ve always felt that entrepreneurship is the best path for me to realize personal and professional fulfillment, alongside financial independence,” she says. Her own caregiving years, and the gap she found in guidance for adult children, told her where to build.

Caregiving From The Middle

In December 2025, Kathleen launched Caregiving From The Middle, the eldercare program at the center of Living Goldenwell. Members get bi-weekly live group calls with her, a private forum, and a self-paced library covering Medicare, Medicaid, dementia, and family dynamics. Workbooks, templates, and planning guides are included, too.

Kathleen coaches members directly, brings in vetted professionals, and hosts virtual events and workshops for the group. The mission of Living Goldenwell is to transform the eldercare experience for women.

“I’m delivering to women what they need during their loneliest and most challenging eldercare moments: expert guidance, proven strategies, and a supportive network of women who ‘get it’ because they’re also going through it,” she says.

Who she built it for

Her clients are professional and entrepreneurial women in the early to mid stages of supporting aging parents. Some are noticing changes and preparing for a first conversation. Others are already deep in decisions about care transitions and money. The framework she teaches them moves through 5 pillars: education, validation, clarity, connection, and reclamation.

What’s next for Living Goldenwell

The plan is to scale. Kathleen wants Living Goldenwell to be known nationally and internationally. She also wants Caregiving From The Middle to grow into the largest all-in-one learning and connection network for women navigating eldercare.

“We are building a truly unique and one-of-a-kind space where women from all over the world can access top-notch guidance for this phase of their lives,” she says.
