Marie-Louise Anthonissen Maps the Road From Idea to Manufacturing

After more than 25 years in corporate product development, the founder of Bureau Flo helps women bring physical products to market in the right order.

October 15, 2026

Every founder who works with Bureau Flo starts with a roadmap built for her product, her business, and the stage she is in. It lays out the work in the right order and shows her when to put money into samples, prototypes, and a first production run. For a first-time founder, the order is what protects the budget and the timeline.

Marie-Louise Anthonissen is the founder of Bureau Flo and an idea-to-manufacturing strategist for women founders of physical products. She spent more than 25 years as a project and product manager in physical product development for companies like Bosch and Philips Baby Care. In 2026, she turned her frameworks toward founders bringing their product ideas to life, and she is a member of the Entreprenista League.

“I look at the whole company you’re building beyond the one product in front of us,” Marie-Louise says.

The story of Bureau Flo starts in corporate product development, with suppliers and teams all over the world.

A baby monitor portfolio and suppliers around the world

Over her corporate career, Marie-Louise was responsible for a complete baby monitor portfolio, working with suppliers and teams across continents. Along the way she built the product development frameworks and systems she still uses today.

“Physical product development is very challenging in itself,” she says. “There are many moving parts that are interdependent and need to be managed with a lot of unknowns and unexpected hiccups.”

Over time she watched many women founders struggle with those moving parts. She wanted them to have a smooth, confident path to manufacturing, so she shifted her focus from large companies to founders building products of their own.

Samples, suppliers, and the right order

The moment Marie-Louise knew her approach worked came from a conversation with the founder of a mom product. She saw that the more enthusiastic a founder is about her product, the more likely she is to skip steps, asking for samples, contacting suppliers, and spending money she should not have spent yet.

“There is a reason why I took steps in a certain order,” Marie-Louise says. Her order puts real attention on the product concept and thorough market research before money moves, and every decision rests on high-quality data. That is how a founder avoids delays and budget overruns and keeps her sanity.

A concept briefing and a competitor benchmark

Many of her clients have never developed a physical product before. They bring deep knowledge from other fields, and manufacturing is new territory. “They don’t know what they don’t know,” Marie-Louise says. “They don’t know the right order to do things.”

In a recent project, she helped a mom-product founder see a clear path from idea to manufacturing, then build a high-quality product concept briefing and a thorough competitor benchmark. This work put real data behind the founder’s next financial decision, a choice about a supplier.

“I have a very personal approach you can rely on,” she says. “I do what I say I will do.”

One audit call and a round of change requests

Another first-time founder came to Marie-Louise for a product development process audit. In one call, she reviewed the founder’s hero product and manufacturing process and gave her specific, honest feedback. The founder took it back to her manufacturers and made change requests, knowing which processes she could rely on and which ones needed to change.

“I became confident in some of our processes and aware of what needs changing in others,” the founder said afterward. “It will pay for itself and potentially stop you from making an expensive mistake.”

A hub for physical product founders

Marie-Louise wants to help many more founders. She is building out the Physical Product Founders Hub, where founders find a clear path from idea to manufacturing, the templates and tools she uses to manage product development, and her tips for a smoother product journey with fewer hiccups and less guesswork.

Being a mom shapes how she works. She sets priorities quickly, makes decisions without overthinking, and gives suppliers and clients grace when they are struggling. “I give the best of me every day in business and in my personal life, and give myself grace for the days that I’m not able to do this,” she says. “I recover, and then the next day I go all in again.”

She wishes she had known more women building businesses when she started, women who refer each other and open doors to new clients. Her advice to new founders is to find them early. “Don’t stay alone too long figuring it out on your own,” she says. “Look for a supportive community at the start of your business.”
