Monica Walls on Building Keca’s Usna, a Lip Color Brand with Meaning
January 5, 2026
Please share a brief introduction and your business:
My name is Monica Walls. I went from being an HR Exec to a lipstick creator. I'm the founder of Keca’s Usna, a lip color line where every shade tells a story. It is a celebration of personal identity, heritage and the unique beauty in each of us.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
I would say yes, because the excitement of building something from the ground up was what I truly enjoyed, and it was time to do that for myself.
Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?
I focused on networking events, personal outreach, and conferences where I got to share my journey and the meaning behind the brand. Did it go exactly as planned? Not entirely, but some things also worked out better than I expected.
What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?
I’m most proud of creating a brand that truly resonates with women. Seeing women wear Keca's Usna and hearing them say it makes them feel confident and beautiful means everything to me.
What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?
One thing I wish I had known when I started my Entreprenista journey is the learning curve. There was so much I had to learn on the fly.
What did you go before starting your own business?
HR Executive
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
I had tried various brands but found my favorites either sticky or short-lasting, while my go-to long-lasting lipstick left my lips dry. I wanted it all: a formula that was long-lasting, non-drying, and felt good.
Do you have any recent wins?
Just seeing Keca's Usna come to life in the hands of women everywhere. This year has been about connection and growth, and seeing our community of bold, unapologetic women flourish. That’s definitely something to celebrate!
Who are your customers?
Women of every age.
What's your top productivity tip?
Waking up early.
What's your favorite business tool?
Not so much a tool, but a solution. It's outsourcing. Outsourcing allows me to focus on the strategic side of the brand while experts handle specific tasks efficiently.
What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?
Just start somewhere, and don't be afraid to ask people for their support for you.
