Nathacha Emerant’s Budding Genius Academy Turns Students Into Bilingual Creators

After 9 years of building, the Mississauga founder’s bilingual STEAM and French academy is picking up, and its families keep coming back.

October 14, 2026

Nathacha Emerant spent 9 years building her business before it began to pick up. The turn came when she made the program bilingual, teaching in French and English. That change, she says, took the academy out of the crowd. Contracts followed.

Nathacha Emerant is the founder of Budding Genius Academy, which offers tutoring, after-school sessions, and holiday camps in STEAM and French for students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Classes run online or at the academy’s venue in Mississauga, Ontario, and her programs reach adults, too, through French courses and translation of professional documents into French. She is also a member of the Entreprenista League.

“Mastering STEM and French at an early age is fundamental to success in life,” Nathacha says.

What she built next says as much about persistence as it does about education.

An engineer’s approach to science and French

Nathacha brought a background in STEM and French to the academy. She is an engineer and scientist with a master's degree, and her dream is to turn children from all over the world into innovators.

Her sessions are hands-on and fun, with course options that include LEGO robotics, drones, Arduino, coding in Python and Scratch, and 3D animation. Science classes follow the Ontario curriculum, and older students can take university preparation courses in physics, calculus, and advanced functions. The sessions help children improve their grades, and they turn students into creators in STEM and into bilingual citizens.

Building on faith for 9 years

Nathacha started with no business connections and no previous training in business administration, so she learned as she built. Her in-person classes came first, and when coronavirus restrictions arrived, she added virtual classes.

“It is picking up only now after 9 years,” she says. Her motto doubles as her advice for aspiring founders: “Have faith in God.”

A bilingual program that stood out

The academy’s competitive advantage, Nathacha says, is its bilingualism in French and English, along with flexibility. Families can choose online sessions, classes at the venue, or private tutoring at home, and the curriculum keeps adjusting to include new technologies and learning methods as they emerge.

The French program supports students in French core, French Immersion, and French Extension, and the youngest learners start at age 2.5, in groups of 6 per teacher. The instructors are native French speakers.

The academy also goes where the students are. It partners with schools and daycares to run after-school sessions on their premises, and its summer camps have added a second location in Oakville.

Room for every kind of learner

Nathacha wants every child or professional who comes to the academy to have the resources they need to succeed in life, whatever their learning needs. The academy offers sessions for children with dyslexia and for autistic children.

Her clients return, season after season. “They keep on coming, over and over, for the past 4 years, all year long,” she says.

Contracts and a bigger vision

Her recent win is the one she worked years for: contracts, finally in hand. Her vision for the years ahead is much bigger, and she is building toward it with the same faith that carried her through the first 9 years.
