Shakira Dent Is Empowering Women Through Yielded to Overflow

January 13, 2026

Please share a brief introduction and your business:

I’m Shakira Dent from New York a wife, cat mom, Christian life coach, author, and faith-driven entrepreneur. I’m the founder of Yielded to Overflow, launched on October 6, 2025, after releasing my first journal, Women of Faith Prayer Journal. Yielded to Overflow was born from surrender, choosing to operate in God’s overflow, knowing His purpose is far greater than anything I could do alone.

I create journals as sacred spaces for women to encounter God, capture revelations, and rejoice in answered prayers. With experience in women’s ministry, growth coaching, journal creation, and six years in the mental health field, my mission is to help Christian women deepen their prayer life and walk boldly in their God-given purpose.

Certified in life coaching through Udemy, I love uplifting others, inspiring smiles, and speaking life into every woman I meet watching them flourish and walk fully in God’s plan for them.

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes, I just didn't know where to begin.

Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?

When I first launched my business, my marketing strategy focused on selling my journal through Amazon while using my social media platforms to spread the word. I shared empowering content designed to encourage women in their faith and spark interest organically. I also connected directly with women through conversations and community engagement, allowing word-of-mouth and genuine relationships to help promote the journal and its message.

What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?

I earned my Christian life coaching certification and released my newest journal, She Blossoms Boldly in His Purpose, on Christmas Day.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I’ve learned that investment is necessary to be successful as an entrepreneur. Whether it’s investing time, finances, or energy, growth requires commitment. Networking has also proven to be an invaluable tool it creates opportunities to collaborate, build community, and multiply clients in meaningful and aligned ways.

What did you go before starting your own business?

Prior to launching my business, I worked as a case manager in the mental health field, serving individuals who experienced homelessness, were impacted by the justice system, and battled mental health challenges. This work deepened my compassion, strengthened my advocacy skills, and shaped my heart for helping women heal, grow, and walk in purpose.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

God gave me the vision to begin, and He continued to confirm it time and time again. Through prayer, obedience, and surrender, it became clear that this was not just an idea but an assignment. I stepped out in faith, trusting that if God called me to it, He would also equip and sustain me every step of the way.
