How Summer Ray Built Soma Lumin, a Biometric Wellness Tech Platform Putting Capital Back in the Hands of Healers
May 27, 2026
Summer Ray is the Founder and Creative Technologist behind Soma Lumin, a biometric wellness tech platform she describes as "witches in STEM." The flagship product, Aura Videography, is a proprietary aura imaging platform sold as a business-in-a-box hardware and software kit. It empowers healers, wellness spaces, and boutique owners to generate high-margin revenue through tangible, beautiful technology.
"I view my business operations, my ADHD management, and my personal life as one cohesive ecosystem."
Summer runs the company as a nomadic CEO, currently building from her Sprinter van while traveling the country with four rescue pets.
The Founder Who Refused the Hustle Mold
Summer's path to entrepreneurship was less a decision and more a recognition.
"I have always had a visionary, neurodivergent ADHD approach to life, which naturally lends itself to building things from scratch. I did not necessarily fixate on the title of CEO, but I knew I needed to operate outside of traditional hustle culture."
"Being an entrepreneur allows me to design a business as a system that actually works for my brain. Allowing me to embrace my natural delayed sleep cycle and work from the road. Rather than fighting to fit into a corporate mold."
For a founder building hardware and software at the same time, that self-awareness about how she works is not a soft skill. It is the foundation of the operation.
The Background That Made Soma Possible
Summer has always lived at the intersection of technology and creativity.
"As an only child I spent a LOT of time playing with webdev as a kid, eventually teaching myself to code so I could build the exact tools I wanted to see in the world one day."
In her twenties, the work shifted toward beauty.
"I spent several years as a florist."
The two threads, technical depth and aesthetic instinct, came back together in Soma Lumin.
"I personally coded the proprietary Python and OpenCV software that powers our core Soma Lumin hardware. My background gave me the technical foundation to build real, tangible tech products rather than just selling abstract services. And the ability to make them beautiful, too."
The Loss That Shaped the Mission
The deepest driver of the business is personal.
"Losing my mom to DV while she was being financially abused fundamentally shifted my perspective on life, legacy, and what it means for women to be truly autonomous," Summer says. "It fueled my drive to build something that actively puts money and power back into the hands of women."
Her business is the answer to that grief.
"Today, I am incredibly proud of building a business-in-a-box that does exactly that. We currently have a network of nearly 30 active guides with 0% churn. Watching these women achieve real financial independence, support themselves on their own terms, and build genuine wealth using biometric software I personally coded from scratch is, without a doubt, my proudest achievement."
For a company born from that loss, the metric that matters most is not revenue. It is the number of practitioners who now have a financial floor underneath their work.
Who Soma Serves
"Our primary customers are wellness entrepreneurs, healers, retreat hosts, and boutique owners," Summer says. "Essentially, we serve the practitioners who are often left out of traditional tech wealth-building. By giving them a turnkey system to monetize their spaces and waiting rooms, we give them a highly profitable revenue stream."
The B2B expansion is the next layer.
"We are also actively expanding into enterprise B2B sales, targeting larger wellness franchises and aggregators."
That dual play, individual healers on one side, enterprise wellness platforms on the other, is the trajectory most tech companies in the category cannot pull off. Soma's depth in both software and hardware lets it sit credibly in both rooms.
What's Next for Soma
"We are actively scaling beyond our flagship aura cameras into a comprehensive biometric wellness ecosystem under the Soma umbrella," Summer says. "Soon, we are rolling out Soma Linea, an AI-driven biometric palmistry app, and Soma Lyre, which maps the body's frequency using cymatics and sand."
The capital and geographic expansion is also in motion.
"Over the next few years, you will see us close a $500k seed round to fuel our enterprise B2B expansion into major wellness franchises, as well as an international rollout across Europe and Australia with our new digital-first kits."
The ambition is structural.
"We are positioning Soma to be the foundational tech platform for the modern holistic space."
If Summer's approach to building biometric wellness tech that puts capital in the hands of healers and refuses to fight her own brain resonates, the Entreprenista League is a community of women founders who value connection, shared experience, and practical business insight as they grow.
