Tamara Morrison: Leading with Vision at Premier HR Consulting

November 7, 2025

Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business

After 25+ years of working in leadership positions at major corporations, I pivoted to launch my own fractional HR services business eight years ago. Premier HR offers talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance/HR Assessments, benefits & compensation, executive coaching, and training services to our clients.  Premier HR supports small businesses who need project-based deliverables as well as those clients that require ongoing support.   Our team is bi-coastal, and we support both domestic and international clients. What makes us unique from other fractional HR services companies is that function as business strategists first-gaining a better understanding of the background/goals of our clients prior to applying our HR solutions.   We provide a customized approach every time!  I am also a Board Member at Girls Inc-Long Island and Habitat for Humanity and enjoy giving back by sharing my expertise!

Who are your customers?

Small to mid-size business owners, C-Suite Executives who need fractional HR support

What was your background prior to starting your own business?

25+ years in HR Leadership/Executive positions across multiple industries including financial services, engineering, retail, non-profit, legal, and consulting.

What made you take the leap to start your own business?

The experience to actually know I could be successful at launching my own business.   I had huge success during COVID when companies needed a strong partner to navigate through COVID protocols, remote workers, and hybrid schedules and my business grew from there.  I also got tired of being in a position to ask for a seat at the table whereas consulting people want you to take a seat!

Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Yes, I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs in the education and non-profit sectors.   I was always taught to constantly absorb knowledge from multiple sources (gain the foundation in corporate America, go to school to further your education) but then apply that one day to my own business.

What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far and what have you learned from it?

I think the biggest challenge now is scaling...I help my clients daily to implement the HR structures to grow but it's interesting when you try to do it for yourself it's a lot harder to look internally and solution.

What accomplishment are the most proud of to date in your business?

I am very proud of building a strong team (I'm no longer a solo entrepreneur) and Premier HR has been recognized by some local publications for excellence in HR services (The Herald and the Long Island Business News-2024).

Do you have any recent wins from the last year that you'd like to celebrate with our community?

Awards-The Herald and Long Island Business News

What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

Continued growth, expansion and positive impact on the overall community.

What is your top productivity tip?

Start early when it's quiet...I like to organize my day before the day gets away from me with multiple Zooms, emails and project.

On the flip side, how do you avoid burnout?

Purre Barre, Self-Care, Travel (to a quiet place near the ocean) and maintaining boundaries (which is hard as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and entrepreneur!)

What is your approach to work-life balance / integration?

Schedule your down-time and your work time...both are equally important.

What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?

I wish I would have known about Entreprenista earlier!  Such a great network of accomplished women.  I have found more success in my journey in connecting with women over the years...we just get each other so much better!  We are better business owners as well!

What's the one app on your phone you absolutely cannot live without and why?

Waze and Doordash are a close tie-Necessary when time if of the essence!

What is your favorite business tool or solution and why?

GoDaddy-I'm not tech savvy at all!

What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

You only need one client to start!  Follow your passion/purpose and you will find more success!
