Tina Ullmann is the Owner and Principal Consultant of Vireo HR Advisory & Coaching, a firm dedicated to helping growing businesses build stronger HR systems, processes, and engagement strategies. Please share a brief introduction and your business:
I spent 27 years in Corporate HR leadership roles, starting a coaching business as a side hustle back in 2018 and after experiencing a burnout breakdown stepped aware from corporate to launch my own firm.
Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?
I just started with my previous LLC brand and then worked with a marketing agency on brand positioning and relaunched under Vireo HR Advisory & Coaching 3 months after going Live.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Yes, I have always had the bug but not the confidence
What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?
I have met amazing people, great clients and won a few awards , so I would say my first year out is successful even though it was negative for overall revenue.
What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?
Internal monologue and confidence is the key to presenting your business with purpose. If you have started your own business you are a badass and need to embrace that!
What did you do before starting your own business?
Grew my career from HRBP to VP of HR in Retail, Hospitality, Healthcare and Utility Energy verticles
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
Passion for working with businesses that align to my values, mission and vision.
Do you have any recent wins?
Awards: Best Business Consultant Milford Region, Top 100 Entrepreneurs, Top Advisory & Coach
What's one app on your phone that you cannot live without?
google tasks- it has been a game changer to keep me organized
Who are your customers?
Businesses with 15+ employees that find themselves overwhelmed with working "in" the business rather than "on" the business. A lot of this work is due to HR services and support related to process, systems and engagement.
What's your favorite business tool?
Wave for financial reporting and invoice tracking
What's your approach to work-life balance?
Taking the time to play or spend time with family is why I started this business to begin with. Step away, hit the balls to my dogs even if it is for 10 minutes.
How do you avoid burn-out?
Blocking time in my calendar for catch up but also no screen time
What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?
Embrace community
