Vicky McGrath Teaches Women to Build Senior Care Businesses

After 10 years running a home care company, she packaged up the systems that landed her first client in week one.

September 9, 2026

Vicky McGrath opened a senior care business in 2016 with no healthcare or business background. She had a franchise playbook, and she followed it exactly. Her first client signed within the first week.

Vicky McGrath is the founder of Senior Care Business Campus, which teaches mid-life professional women how to open and run a senior care business of their own. She is a member of the Entreprenista League, and the home care company she started in 2016, Here to Help Home Care Services, is still going. Now she sells the decade in between.

Her path from a government office to the blueprint she now teaches came down to one habit: following a proven set of steps without improvising.

The layoff that changed how she saw job security

Vicky spent 20 years in the government sector, in the environmental field, and worked her way into a high-paying management position. Then she was let go. She came out of it with a conclusion she still repeats to the women she works with: There really is no such thing as job security.

Entrepreneurship had been sitting in the back of her mind for years before that. “It was certainly always a dream to be an entrepreneur,” she says.

Her only exposure to care work was personal. She had helped care for her mother through Alzheimer’s disease, and that was the whole of her healthcare experience when she and her husband started looking at senior care.

First client in the first week

Vicky and her husband bought a franchise and ran its systems, steps, and processes exactly as written. The first client came within a week of opening. In the first 9 months, they generated $176,000 in revenue and cleared 6 figures in the first year.

Neither of them had run a business before. What they brought was a willingness to do the work in the order it was given.

Thousands of families through very challenging times

Over the decade that followed, Here to Help Home Care Services supported thousands of seniors and their families and employed hundreds of caregivers. Ask her what she is proudest of, and she says it’s about “helping thousands of clients and their families through very challenging times.

Growth came with a discipline she now teaches. “Build a team when you achieve specific revenue milestones and use those revenue milestones to motivate you and your team,” she says. She has worked from home for 10 years and plans her days around the business. Her daughter was 11 when the company opened and is 21 now, and both parents made every school event.

Packaging 10 years into a blueprint

In 2026, Vicky decided to package up what she knew and teach it. Senior Care Business Campus sells a Done With You Senior Care Business Blueprint: 90 days of mentorship, training modules, scripts, templates, and playbooks, along with coaching through marketing, sales, operations, and client care. The mentorship window can extend to 6 months.

“In my senior care business, my husband is my co-founder,” she says. “In Senior Care Business Campus, I am the sole founder.” She runs this one by herself, and her first Blueprint client arrived in May 2026. That validation was what she needed, and she has been building it ever since.

Who the blueprint is built for

Vicky is specific about who she wants to serve. “Mid-life professional women in a career pivot or who are seeking a meaningful business opportunity,” she says. She describes the goal as a meaningful business that gives families peace of mind and builds an asset for the owner.

She needed no healthcare or business experience to do it herself, and that is the part she leads with. She had a system, a partner, and a reason to keep going. The way in is a free online masterclass on how to start a senior care business.

The offer she wishes she had

Her advice for anyone weighing a leap comes back to conviction. Build the thing you would have paid for when you needed it. “This will eliminate any need to ‘sell’ because it will simply be the solution you wish you had when you needed it,” she says.

The next stretch is new ground. Her business has run on in-person relationships for 10 years, and she is building online for the first time. The one thing she wishes she had known earlier is how to build an online community. “My business has been in-person to date,” she says.

She intends to keep helping other women reach business ownership, and she plans to use online platforms to reach more women.
