Please share a brief introduction about yourself and your business

Joyza began in 2020 as "AWM Balloon Bar". I was frustrated with DIY Balloon Garland Kits on the market. Balloons would fall out of the balloon tape, pop outside, or the glue dots just wouldn't work. I accidentally started a balloon services/installation business after I found an easier way to decorate parties. In 2023, I created a DIY Balloon Garland Kit. Joyfully created to help you become a Party Pro!

‍Who are your customers?

Party lovers, Budget-minded, Women

‍What was your background prior to starting your own business?

Medical Administration/Operations. I took my experience in Operations to my love and hobby for celebrations, and accidentally started a business. 

‍What made you take the leap to start your own business?

Funny enough I didn't want to. I had just quit my job in Medical, and had friends asking to hire me to decorate their parties. I realized that there was no "Betty Crocker" balloon kit, and I knew I wanted to make one for my friends. 

‍Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Absolutely not. I'm the daughter to two immigrants, and have watched the ups and downs of my father and other relatives own a business and never wanted that stress. 

‍What is the biggest challenge you have encountered along the way so far and what have you learned from it?

Biggest challenge has been getting the word out that Joyza exists. People have had bad experiences from cheap DIY Balloon Arch kits, so it's hard to educate people that Joyza is different and has better balloons and better instructions. 

‍What accomplishment are the most proud of to date in your business?

I'm really proud of seeing people using our kits and hearing their feedback on how easy it was. Their garlands turn out so beautiful, and I enjoy watching the joy it brings. 

‍Do you have any recent wins from the last year that you'd like to celebrate with our community?

A portion of every purchase is donated back to the community to non-profits with a mission to improve women and children's lives. We do this out of a heart that loves God and desires to love others like ourselves. We're honored to be named Christ's Haven For Children's Outstanding Corporate Partner of 2025. 

‍What's next for your business? What can we expect to see over the next few years?

Joyza is creating a Joyhood--your new favorite sisterhood for elevated party magic. We're hoping for more people to join the Joyhood, and help our sisters become Party Pros. We want to be more than just a DIY Balloon Kit...we want to bring joy, create connections, and build sisterhood. 

‍What is your top productivity tip?

Know your weaknesses. I have ADD, so I have to set timers, create lists and utilize Alexa like she's a real-life Administrative Assistant. 

‍On the flip side, how do you avoid burnout?

Finding what brings you joy. For me, it's being in the presence of God, soaking up sunshine, and being artistic. Scheduling Joy Seeking into your daily, weekly, monthly schedule is crucial. 

‍What is your approach to work-life balance / integration?

Accepting there is no balance, lol. Early in my career, when I became a mother, I came to terms with no balance, and instead viewed work/life like the rhythm to a playlist. As a former Texas-high-school dance team girl, it was easier for me to accept learning how to dance through life...the beat-count changes every song/season. It's about moving to the rhythm. 

‍What's the one app on your phone you absolutely cannot live without and why?

Alexa. I can tell Alexa to remind me on "x" date that my kids have a schedule change, or if I was in "mom mode", I can tell Alexa "remind me to call by "x" client at "y" date/time". Literally would lose my mind with out the app. 

‍What is your favorite business tool or solution and why?

Shopify is amazing for ecommerce. I went 2 years without having to hire a web designer or IT wizard because it was so easy to use. 

‍What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?

It's hard, it's unglamorous, and success isn't overnight...but...if you have a service or good that solves a problem that no one else has or it's better...then do it.
