For many women founders, fundraising can feel like entering a world where the rules were never designed with them in mind. Access to capital, investor networks, and venture opportunities often feels harder to navigate, especially for women building businesses outside traditional startup circles.
But more women are changing that reality by stepping into the investing world themselves. From angel investing to venture capital, female investors are creating new opportunities for women founders while helping reshape the future of entrepreneurship.
Catherine Gray is an entrepreneur, producer, and advocate for women's empowerment known for her impactful work supporting entrepreneurs through media and funding platforms. As the founder of She Angel Investors and the co-founder of the She Angels Foundation, Catherine bridges the funding gap for women by providing resources, education, and inspiration. Catherine's passion for storytelling and advocacy led to her latest film project, the documentary "Show Her the Money" which highlights the challenges women face in securing venture capital.

Catherine shares what first sparked her mission to educate more women about venture capital.
“When I got wind of the fact that women were getting only 2% of venture capital, I was like We're getting only 2% and men are getting 98%. And by the way, what is venture capital? And I found that all these really accomplished men and women really didn't know what venture capital was... And really, it's been the best-kept secret.”
She explains why the film Show Her the Money became much bigger than just a documentary.
“We needed to create this film, and take it around the world, and create what I call... It's a movie and a movement, so I call it a moviement.”
Catherine talks about why women investors are critical to changing the future of funding.
“The women venture funds usually tend to invest in not just women, but also BIPOC and LGBTQ, all the overlooked communities... women tend to be more profitable. They tend to exit earlier... And in the long run, these funds are going to be more than likely very profitable.”
She shares why venture capital is more accessible than many women realize.
“People have an idea that you have to have a million dollars, $10 million to invest in venture capital, that it's just for wealthy people. But that's not the case... So people have to understand how bite-size it can be, how accessible it can be.”
Catherine explains why women need to take an active role in investing in other women founders.
“It’s very important that we have women investing in women through venture capital because otherwise nobody is. That's why we get 2%... We need to make a movement... so that we get our fair share of investment dollars to create products and services that will not only benefit women, but will benefit the planet.”
