Trust is the hardest thing to build and the easiest thing to lose. Lucy Blair spent 5 years earning it, one family at a time, long before she thought about scaling it. That trust is the foundation of everything she has built since.

Lucy Blair is the founder of The Babysitter Collective, a boutique babysitting network that connects families with vetted, trustworthy sitters through an easy-to-use booking platform. A mother of 5, she started her first company, Bundle & Bliss, as a postpartum doula offering hands-on support to mothers in their fourth trimester. A member of the Entreprenista League, she turned one business into the launch pad for the next. Now she is taking that model beyond her home city.

From the fourth trimester to the next stage

Lucy’s path into business began about 5 years ago, when she became a postpartum doula and founded Bundle & Bliss. What started as a one-woman operation grew into a team of postpartum doulas and night nannies caring for mothers through the fourth trimester.

Then the questions changed. As families aged out of their postpartum contracts, they began asking Lucy who they could trust to watch their children. She already had their trust, and she had become the expert they relied on for family support. The Babysitter Collective grew directly out of the demand.

Built for busy, modern families

The Babysitter Collective serves busy, modern families who want exceptional childcare without the guesswork. Her clients are typically professional parents who value reliability, safety, and convenience.

The model is a boutique network rather than an open directory. Sitters are vetted, families book through a simple platform, and every booking carries the same credibility Lucy earned as a doula. Vetting is the part she takes most seriously. She wants to know how a sitter handles a hard day, whether that means several kids at once, a stubborn attitude, or a scraped knee, and how comfortable she is inside a young, fast-moving company.

A record year and a new city

Membership at The Babysitter Collective is the highest it has been in 18 months of operation.

Lucy is now expanding into Charlotte, North Carolina, a city where she does not physically live. For a founder whose whole model rests on personal trust, launching somewhere new is a genuine test of the systems she has built. She feels ready to take it on, and getting to this point is exactly the accomplishment she is most proud of so far.

The founder inside her

Lucy is not surprised she ended up here. Deep down, she says, she always knew she wanted to be a founder. She describes herself as an Enneagram 3 who schemes like she has something to prove to the world, and she loves being her own boss and setting her own goals.

For years the obstacle was timing. The postpartum fog of raising young children slowed her clarity and her strategic thinking. Once her own babies grew a little older and she could get out of the house to focus, the business finally began to roll.

Her background feeds the work. Before either company, Lucy spent years in full-time Christian ministry as a certified biblical counselor, then became a fitness instructor, work she still does today. That blend of emotional support, encouragement, and coaching shapes how she leads her team and cares for the families she serves.

Advice for founders at the start

Lucy is candid that she is early in her own Entreprenista journey, and her advice reflects it. “You don’t have to know everything or have it perfect to get started,” she says. “Just take the first step and figure the rest out as you go.”

She protects a dedicated Sabbath day when her family rests together and, as much as possible, no one works.

What’s next

Lucy is taking The Babysitter Collective on the road. The Charlotte launch comes later this summer, with hopes to announce Charleston soon after, and more cities to follow.
