How Amy Powers and the Wild Ivy Productions Team Built a Boutique Production Agency by Choosing the Right Partnerships Over the Available Ones
April 27, 2026
Meet Amy Powers, VP of Client Engagement and founding member of Wild Ivy Productions, a women-owned boutique production agency built by senior producers who have spent years running high-stakes shows and still love every minute of it. Amy spent the bulk of her career building and leading advertising and sponsorship teams across commercial and nonprofit news media before arriving at a realization she could not ignore: she was spending more time chasing revenue targets than creating meaningful client experiences. So she and three women she believed in built a new room entirely.
Wild Ivy blends creative direction with technical fluency to make general sessions, breakouts, and high-stakes corporate moments feel seamless, smart, and genuinely easy on the teams they partner with. They closed their first year profitable, debt-free, and with brand-new clients who came back in year two. They are boutique by design, not because it sounds good, but because staying small means staying intentional about every partnership they say yes to.
Please share a brief introduction and your business:
Wild Ivy Productions is a women‑owned boutique production agency built by senior producers who’ve spent years running high‑stakes shows, and still love it. We blend creative direction with technical fluency to make general sessions and breakouts feel seamless, smart, and genuinely easy on the teams we partner with.
I left a long career in media sales leadership to take a chance on building something new with three women I believed in, and I haven’t looked back. At Wild Ivy, my role is all about clarity and alignment. I make sure our clients know exactly what we do, how we work, and how we plug in so the partnership feels simple, supported, and steady from day one.
Do you have a co-founder?
There are four of us, and our secret ingredient is that none of us overlap in the same way. We each bring something different; different strengths, different instincts, different lanes; and that mix sparks amazing innovation. We keep an open mind, avoid hard “no’s,” ask questions when something doesn’t click, and stay curious. That approach has helped us navigate every decision and always find our way forward together.
Are you a mamaprenista?
As there are 4 of us, you can imagine there is a variety of answers to this question. But we are all family first and highly focused on those we love, every step of the way.
Take us back to when you launched? What was your marketing strategy?
In the beginning, our strategy was simple: visibility. Be present, be loud enough to be noticed, and make sure our social voice sounded aligned with who we are. We leaned hard into organic content and focused on optimizing the channels we had.
Our clients and partners showed up for us. Trusted with their highest-stakes moments, those relationships were earned over time. Most of our growth comes through referrals and a network we have built over the years. That foundation gave us a strong start. Now we are building from there.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Not at all. It still feels humbling at times, and we’re absolutely learning as we go. But the stars aligned with a founding team I trust completely, and we’re growing through it together. I wouldn’t change a thing; the challenge, the stretch, the energy… it’s all part of why this chapter feels so right.
What accomplishments are you the most proud of to date in your business?
We’re incredibly proud of the fact that we walked into this not knowing exactly what to expect and managed to close out our first year profitable and completely out of startup debt. Pair that with brand‑new clients who came back in year two, and it feels like the kind of foundation every new founder hopes for. We’re grateful for all of it!
What is one thing you wish you had known when you started your Entreprenista journey?
Well, I am just starting the journey now, and I am just wishing I had more time in the day to prepare and to engage. There are a lot of amazing tools and connections to dig into.
When hiring, what is your go-to interview question?
We aren't hiring quite yet, but in my prior life I did a lot of it. I always like to open with "what drew you to this role." Depending on where they go with that, it can set the tone for the whole interview.
What did you do before starting your own business?
Prior to joining Wild Ivy, I spent the bulk of my career building and leading successful advertising and sponsorship teams, supporting commercial and non-profit news media organizations in driving revenue.
What made you take the leap to start your own business?
After years in the corporate world, we collectively realized we were spending more time chasing revenue targets than creating meaningful client experiences. We climbed the ladder, but it became clear that the room we were in wasn’t built for the kind of work we wanted to do.
So, we built a new one.
Wild Ivy was created as a women‑owned boutique production agency with a simple philosophy: quality over quantity, people over pressure, and work that feels aligned. We’re boutique by design; not because it sounds nice, but because it lets us stay intentional. We don’t take on every project. We take on the ones where we can genuinely add value, and we’re honest about the fact that not every client needs what we do.
There’s real power in choosing the right partnerships, not just the available ones, and that’s the foundation Wild Ivy was built on.
Do you have any recent wins?
A recent win we’re really proud of is earning our WOSB certification. Anyone who’s gone through a certification process knows it’s… a lot. It takes time, documentation, patience, and then more documentation. But we did it! Wild Ivy is now officially certified as a Women‑Owned Small Business through the SBA.
Beyond the badge, it gives us a real competitive edge when partnering with organizations that genuinely value diversity, equity, and bringing more women‑led teams into the room. It's a meaningful step forward for our business and for the kind of partnerships we want to build.
Who are your customers?
We support organizations with a message to impart, hearts and minds to move, or a vision to share. That includes brands and organizations with teams running conferences, sales kickoffs, user events and leadership meetings... the moments where what you say and how you say it really matters.
If you’re gathering people and you care about the experience in the room, you’re our kind of client!
What's your top productivity tip?
In the world of production, our schedules can be unpredictable, so we make the most of the time we have together. When we’re in the same room, we focus hard on core strategy and top priorities. From there, we rely on collaborative tools and systems to keep everything moving forward no matter where we are. But the real productivity hack is trust... knowing each other’s strengths and leaning into them. It lets us accomplish a lot in a little time and gives us huge confidence in what we can deliver as a team.
What's your favorite business tool?
Gamma is a new tool we've been loving! It's a great tool for presentation design and links.
What's your approach to work-life balance?
We are all pretty strong Type A's, so this one can be a struggle. But at our core, we’re all deeply nurturing humans as well. Whether we’re supporting our families, caring for pets, or speaking with clients, we try to bring that same level of care and energy into all aspects of our busy lives. It shows up in how we lead, how we collaborate, and how we take care of our clients.
How do you avoid burn-out?
Do work you genuinely love with people who care just as deeply as you do. And this part matters: make space for laughter. If we’re not having fun with each other, we’re not honoring what we set out to build. We stay intentional about the projects we take on so the team has room for balance, creativity, and actual breathing space.
What advice do you have for aspiring Entreprenistas?
Just start. If you have a solid support network, lean on them. If you have passion and commitment, trust that you can build something meaningful. And when you find yourself in the thick of it, be kind to yourself. Some days are tough, and the grace you give yourself will make all the difference. Make this your plan A, B, and C; no backup plan, no emergency exit. Commit fully. That’s when the magic happens!
Amy and the Wild Ivy team are a reminder that the most powerful thing you can build is a room that actually fits the kind of work you want to do. We are so thrilled to have her in the Entreprenista community and cannot wait to see what Wild Ivy Productions creates next.
