Dawn Myers Left the Sheriff's Department to Build DCM Beauty
How a former deputy sheriff and makeup artist is bringing a luxury skincare brand to life.
July 23, 2026
Dawn Myers has worn more than one uniform. She started out as a professional makeup artist, spent years as a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff, and trained as a licensed esthetician along the way. Every one of those roles came back to the same instinct: helping people feel confident and cared for. Now she is pouring all of it into a skincare brand of her own.
Dawn Myers is the founder and CEO of DCM Beauty, a luxury skincare brand focused on healthy aging, barrier support, and environmental protection. A member of the Entreprenista League, she is preparing to bring her debut collection to market and building the brand one relationship at a time. DCM Beauty grew out of a lifelong love of skincare and a career that was anything but linear. Her road to founder started far from a lab or a boardroom.
A career built on helping people
Dawn's path was never traditional. She began wielding a makeup brush, then served for years as a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff, and later earned her esthetician license. Each chapter taught her something about confidence, care, and connection.
“I've always been entrepreneurial and enjoyed creating things, but my path wasn't a traditional one,” she says. The desire to build something of her own grew slowly, and eventually it grew too loud to ignore. "I developed a passion for skincare and saw firsthand how confidence and self-care can positively impact people's lives."
Taking the leap
DCM Beauty is self-funded and founder-led. Dawn has been intentional with every dollar. Rather than a co-founder, she leaned on trusted advisors, mentors, and industry experts, and she treats those relationships as the real infrastructure of the business. "I've learned the value of surrounding yourself with trusted advisors, mentors, and industry experts. Strong partnerships are built on clear communication, shared values, and mutual respect."
From idea to brand
Over the past year, Dawn completed development of DCM Beauty's first product collection, secured manufacturing partnerships, and watched her formulations come to life. She joined the Entreprenista League, was featured in VoyageLA, and earned invitations to major industry events. "I am most proud of bringing DCM Beauty from an idea to a real, tangible brand. Every milestone has reinforced my belief in the vision behind it."
Dawn built the line for anyone who wants effective, luxury skincare that supports healthy aging, barrier health, and sustainability. The goal is thoughtfully formulated products that deliver results while keeping the routine simple and enjoyable.
Building with patience
As a mother of 4, Dawn measures progress in seasons rather than days. She is candid that building a brand has taken longer than she first expected, and she has made peace with that. "Progress often takes longer than expected, but that doesn't mean you're failing. Building something meaningful requires patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when the results aren't immediate."
Her advice for founders is simple. “Start before you feel ready,” she says. “Progress comes from taking action and learning along the way.”
What's next
DCM Beauty is preparing to launch its debut collection built around healthy aging, barrier support, and environmental defense. Dawn hopes to grow it into a trusted name in luxury skincare, expand the line, and keep connecting with other women founders as she goes.
